The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has applauded the emergence of Alhaji Muhammed Abdulrahman as the Acting National Chairman of the former ruling party.
Congratulating Abdulrahman, the state chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, pointed out that the key agenda for the new party leadership at the centre should be immediate reforms targeted at returning the PDP to its winning ways in 2027.
He said, “The emergence of the Acting National Chairman comes at a critical period in the history of the PDP, particularly as we reflect on our journey in the country’s governance. This development not only underscores his leadership competence but also calls for revival, forgiveness, and reawakening of our resilience spirit within the party.
“Today, more than ever, our nation needs a united, responsible, and visionary opposition founded on discipline, inclusiveness, and respect for the rules guiding our activities as a political party.
“Our Party has always been known for standing as a defender of the voiceless and a practitioner of internal democracy. This period beckons us to return to those core norms.
“We are confident that Alhaji Abdulrahman will bring his wealth of experience, sense of patriotism, and zeal for duty to stabilize our Party.
“We respectfully call on him and his team to engage every genuine and sincere Party member to reinvent the party and garner citizen support in our quest to assume leadership of this great Country once again.”
He said that this moment in the life of their party calls for reflection and purging of attitudes that have hindered the party’s progress, adding that they must eliminate pride, selfishness, and tendencies that divide the party.
“The Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the PDP is willing and ready to work with the Acting National Chairman and the National Working Committee for the rebirth of our great Party.
“With unity and a sense of responsibility, the PDP will rise again, strong enough for the Country to rely on,” Akpan enthused.
