The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has questioned the continuous detention of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, while Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, was free.

Ayodele urged the Federal Government to release the detained leader of IPOB, arguing that fairness should guide the government’s handling of sensitive security-related cases.

The cleric made the appeal while addressing members of his congregation in a video that surfaced online on Saturday.

According to Ayodele, if the government decides to continue holding Kanu in custody, it should apply the same standard to Islamic cleric Gumi, insisting that unequal treatment could fuel perceptions of bias.

“Try and release Nnamdi Kanu,” the cleric said.

He maintained that handling the two figures differently could raise questions about the government’s sincerity and commitment to justice.

Ayodele also cautioned that growing public frustration over national issues could trigger increased demonstrations against the President Bola Tinubu administration if citizens’ concerns were not adequately addressed.

“Protest will seize this Tinubu government,” he warned.
