The remains of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, have arrived Abuja ahead of her burial rites.
The family confirmed that the deceased, who passed away on Friday, March 27, in Cairo after a brief illness, was flown into the Federal Capital Territory on Sunday morning.
Her grandson, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, disclosed the development in a statement shared via X, outlining details of the funeral arrangements.
“This is to notify the general public that the remains of our grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, has safely landed in Abuja. The Janazah Prayer is by 1 p.m. as announced last night,” he wrote.
He added, “The prayers will take place at the National Mosque and she will be buried at Gudu Cemetery by the grace of God. May Allah SWT bless her soul and all those that passed away before her.”
The Janazah prayer is scheduled to hold at the National Mosque Abuja, after which interment will take place at the Gudu Cemetery.
Late Hajiya Umma El-Rufai was said to have been living with her son in Cairo prior to her death.

He was , however, granted temporary release from custody to enable him attend the burial rites and be with his family.
Meanwhile, prominent Nigerians, including President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Kaduna State governor Uba Sani, have extended condolences and paid tribute to the late matriarch.
