The committee which has Engr. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari as chairman, gave the commendation when it paid a visit to the project site as part of its oversight function, on Wednesday.

“The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress and impact of private sector-led power infrastructure development in the context of Nigeria’s post-privatisation power sector reform,” he stated.

During the visit, the Committee toured Bagaja state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance distribution efficiency, grid stability, and energy access to underserved areas.

Chidari praised Bagaja’s efforts, describing the project as a “strategic and innovative approach to power generation and supply.”

“This project clearly illustrates the potential of public-private partnerships in addressing Nigeria’s longstanding electricity challenges.

“We are highly impressed with the level of professionalism, innovation, and commitment displayed by Bagaja,” he added.

He also emphasised the need for increased stakeholders’ support for renewable energy initiatives, citing their crucial role in decentralising energy supply and reducing overreliance on the national grid.

Managing Director of Bagaja Renewables, Mr. Sadiq Zakari who led the Committee through the facility, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering clean, consistent, and scalable energy solutions across the country.

“At Bagaja, our mission is to close the energy access gap through reliable and sustainable infrastructure.

“The Zawaciki mini-grid is a demonstration of our vision for transforming Nigeria’s energy landscape,” he stated.

He further highlighted Bagaja’s expanding portfolio, including ongoing developments at Kura-Karfi in Kano targeted at powering local businesses and driving economic growth as well as the Kafin Hausa project in Jigawa, which has already completed its fencing phase and progressing steadily toward full deployment.

The visit reinforced the value of cooperation between government institutions and private energy providers in advancing Nigeria’s energy security and sustainability goals.
