House of Representatives Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) has met with the minister of finance and coordinating economy, Wale Edun, to ascertain the extent of funding and releases made to implementing MDAs for the presidential palliative grants and loans to SMEs.
The committee chaired by Hon. Mansur Manu Soro had also met with the minister of industry, trade and investment, Doris Anite, accountant general of the federation and director general of SMEDAN, Mr. Charles Odii and other government officials on implementation of the intervention.
The meetings followed the resolution of the House mandating the committee on SME to interface with government officials responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of the palliatives.
President Bola Tinubu had directed implementation of palliatives to cushion the effects of removal of petrol subsidy across the agricultural, transportation, social safety and SME sectors of the economy.
Sequel to the legislative engagement, the presidential palliative grants and loans which comes in three tranches of N50,000 grants to one million nano businesses (solopreneurs), N100,000 – N1million and N75 billion to manufacturers would be disbursed any moment.
