The meeting scheduled between the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Affairs and Sole Administrator of the state, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), has been postponed.
LEADERSHIP reports that the ad-hoc committee chaired by the House Leader, Hon. Julius Ihonvbere, HAD invited Ibas to appear before it for a comprehensive interactive session on Thursday.
Ihonvbere said the engagement WAS necessary to ascertain the true state of affairs in Rivers State and ensure that the House remains properly guided in the discharge of its oversight responsibilities on the State in the public interest.
But, the House spokesperson, Hon. Akin Rotimi, early Thursday, said the meeting had been RESCHEDULED to a yet-to-be-announced date, following a formal request from the sole administrator.
“The Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight has received a formal request from the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), to reschedule the interactive session initially set for today, April 17, 2025, at 4:00 pm.
“The Committee has acknowledged the request and is in the process of coordinating a new date for the session, and will, in the spirit of transparent and effective oversight, promptly inform the public once the rescheduled date is confirmed,” Rotimi stated.
