The House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Councils and Ancillary Matters has invited the Minister of State for FCT, Dr Mariya Bunkure and heads of some agencies to appear before it on Tuesday.

The summon was sequel to the inability of the minister and 11 agencies under her supervision to appear before the panel for the 2025 budget defence session on Monday.

Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Fredrick Agbedi (PDP, Bayelsa) also threatened that the parliament would invoke its powers against the minister if she fails to appear as scheduled.

Agbedi recalled that President Bola Tinubu had asked lawmakers to expedite action on the budget, expressing worry over the absence of the minister and affected agencies on Monday.

The lawmaker stated that the minister was duly invited and notified of the meeting together with the agencies under her jurisdiction.
