Residents Hail Aiyedatiwa Over Rehabilitation Of Roads In Ondo

Residents of Ondo State, particularly, those living in Akure, the Ondo State capital, have hailed the state governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for repairing virtually all the internal roads in the state capital.

The residents had recently lamented the poor condition of the roads and urged the state government to as a matter of urgency, complete the ongoing construction of Oda Road, Ijoka dualisation in the state capital.

Mostly affected by the poor condition of the roads are residents of Pelebe, Ilekun, Weliweli, Ijigba, and Aye among others.

Apart from Oda Road, Ondo Road, Odi-Olowo/ Isikan, Danjuma, Odole, Oke-Ijebu, Odopetu, and Oke-Aro roads are totally in a state of disrepair as the roads are dotted by deep potholes, which is making vehicular movements very difficult.

They lamented over the poor condition of the road, which has become difficult for the movement of vehicles.

But the governor, in the last two weeks, moved in to rehabilitate and asphalt most of the internal roads in the state.

Among the roads that have been repaired are Iloro-Owe Akala Street, Iro-Odopetu Road, and Alafiatayo-Odole-Odi-Olowo Road.

A resident of one of the areas, Mr Abiodun Adegbite, said this road had been here for years without attention from the previous administration.

According to Adegbite, many cars always break down on the road due to the portholes that have taken over every portion of the road.

He said “We want to appreciate the governor for prompt attention to these roads. Governor Aiyedatiwa did well by not patching the roads but put Asphalt overlay to cover the road from the beginning to the end.”

Another resident, Mrs Funmilayo Adebisi, said, “Before this new development, The road has been damaging our cars every day. In a week, you must visit a mechanic workshop twice to fix your car.

“We don’t know our offences in Odi-Olowo/ Odole that made the government abandon us. But since when the current administration came on board, he has been magnanimous enough to look into this area and do a total rehabilitation of the road. We cannot but thank him. ”

While, however, assuring the people of the state that his administration would continue to prioritise their well-being, the governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, hinted that

The ongoing Oda Road, Ijoka Road and Shagari-Onyearugbulem flyover projects would be completed on time.

According to him “This road, which connects Ecobank Junction/Arakale, has been left unattended for years. But as part of our urban renewal and infrastructural development agenda, we are ensuring its completion. So far, 1.5 kilometres have been done, and the contractor has assured us that the remaining 300 meters will be finished soon.”
