The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), on Friday, advised motorists observing Ramadan fasting to take regular breaks during long journey to prevent road accidents.

Mr. Nasir Mohammed, the FRSC Commander overseeing the Sagamu-Ore-Benin Expressway corridor, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota.

He explained that the guidance is particularly timely as both Christian and Muslim faithfuls have commenced their fasting seasons.

NAN reports that Catholic faithful began the Lenten season on Wednesday, marked by 40 days of fasting, while Muslim faithful have started observing Ramadan in the Islamic calendar, a period also defined by fasting.

He further warned against overspeeding and unsafe overtaking, emphasizing that adherence to road safety regulations is crucial to avoiding tragedies.
