The group however pleaded with the president to help relocate Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa states among others to their ancestral homes.

TYO made this call yesterday at the sidelines of the inauguration of its new executives in Abuja.

The president of the group, Chief Joseph Saater Undu commended president Tinubu, for considering Benue State, North Central geopolitical zone, saying that it is not just strategic and historic, but a game changer in the North Central political equation.

He said, “Our people in IDPs, who are mostly peasant farmers, need to return home, and they need to return soon to continue with their normal lives and farming activities. Our nation is on the verge of famine.

“The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) has recently estimated that 25 million Nigerians are at risk of facing hunger and starvation between June and August 2023, if the government does not act fast to stop this. It is really scary that hunger and starvation are starting amidst huge agricultural potentials.”

He therefore called on the president through the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to direct the security chiefs to clampdown on all identified security threats and neutralise them to give Nigerians a new lease of life.

Meanwhile, the pro-chancellor/chairman, Governing Council of the Benue State University, Makurdi, Chief Sebastine Hon (SAN) has charged the Tiv youths to stop abusing and exposing the ethnic group, especially on social media.

Hon, who was represented by the convener of Social Media Digest Summit, Jacob Wuese, advised the youths to work hard and stop wasting wealth and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour, with Proverbs 21:17 and 22:4 as guides.

Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Chief Samuel Pilakyaa, advised the new executive to deliver good leadership to the people that elected them, adding that even though there may be criticisms, they should never look at it as personal attacks on their own personality but as a way of checks and balances for them to forge ahead.

The president of Tiv Youth Organisation Worldwide, Comrade Andy Anzah called for unity among the people.
