Review Of A Movie Eyimofe: ‘This Is My Desire’

Eyimofe (This is my desire) directed by Arie Esiri and Chuko Esiri in 2020 explore elements of aesthetics.

Eyimofe showcases the beauty and complexity of life in Lagos Nigeria. Through its stunning cinematography.

The film captures the vibrant colors,bustling sheets and diverse landscapes of the city, pounding a visually immersive experience for e-audience.

The films soundtrack incorporates a mix of traditional sounds reflecting the cultural richness and diversity of the country. The music also enhances the atmosphere of the film and adds emotional depth to key scenes contributing to it’s overall aesthetic appeal.

“Eyimofe” tells the inter connected stories of two characters, Mofe and Roja as they navigate life’s challenges and pursue their dreams in Lagos.

The films narrative structure is non linear, weaving together past and present timelines to create a layered compelling storytelling experience.

It explores themes of migration, identity and socio economic inequality in Nigeria. The film uses symbolism such as the contrast between urban and rural environments to highlight the complexities of life in rapidly changing societies and provoke thoughts and reflection among viewers.

The costume reflects the authenticity of Nigerian culture and life style. The performance of the cast numbers including dude Akuwudike as Mofe and temi ami-williams as Rosa, are central to the films aesthetic effect.

The actors bring depth and authenticity to their characters, making them relatable and compelling for e-audience.

Lastly, “Eyimofe this is my desire” according to Safiya kaka Muhammad Dagaci of Nasarawa State University Keffi exemplifies how various elements of aesthetics come together to create a stunning and thematically rich cinematic experience that celebrates Nigerian culture and story telling.
