Pop icon Rihanna, currently expecting her third child, has openly expressed her desire to collaborate with Grammy-nominated Nigerian artiste Ayra Starr.

The revelation came during a recent Fenty event, where the duo shared a moment on the black carpet.

Rihanna’s curiosity in Ayra Starr’s music was sparked by her own family connections. “My cousin from Barbados was the one who introduced me to her music. She’s completely obsessed with you,” Rihanna shared with the Nigerian singer. This conversation occurred shortly after Starr mentioned that the Caribbean island is her “favourite place in the world.”

Ayra Starr, who has not shied away from vocalising her admiration for Rihanna, has referred to the Barbadian superstar as a major source of inspiration.

In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Starr said, “Rihanna always advises to stay true to oneself and that what works for one person might not work for another, and that’s perfectly fine.”

The Nigerian singer further revealed her existing musical ties with another prominent artiste, Tems, indicating potential future collaborations.

When asked by Rihanna if there was room for her in a song, Starr responded positively, hinting at exciting possibilities, “That’s my sister. We do have songs but we don’t have a song [out] yet. But soon… You got an extra verse for me? Call me.”
