Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed Mr. Rijo Shekari, a youth politician and advocate of community development, into its ranks.
This move is regarded as a significant boost to the party’s efforts to dislodge the PDP in the Kaduna South Senatorial zone.
Mr. Shekari, a notable commonwealth scholar, chartered accountant from UK and graduate of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, joined the APC to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
His decision was also driven by his desire to bring his zone closer to the government at all levels.
In a statement released by Hon. Dennis David, an APC stakeholder from Ung. Rimi Ward of Zangon Kataf LG, it was noted that “as a senior legislative aide to the deputy president of the senate and a member of the presidential committee for the review and implementation of the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), Mr. Shekari’s expertise and network would undoubtedly enhance the party’s presence in the zone.
While it remains to be seen whether Mr. Shekari will contest for a political seat in the 2027 general elections, his entry into the APC is undoubtedly a positive development for the party in both the zone and the state at large, the statement added.
Reacting to the news, the state chairman of the APC, retired Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada, praised Mr. Shekari’s decision, citing his considerable popularity, particularly among the youth, as a valuable asset to the party.
He said, “Mr. Shekari’s influence extends beyond politics, as he has been instrumental in providing scholarships and driving community development initiatives in his local government and zone.”
“We welcome him into the party and look forward to collaborating with him to build on the development strides of the APC led by both Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in our state and Nigeria as a whole.”
