Youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Hon. Innocent Ajaelu, has solicited for Nigerians’ support for the former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), as minister of defence.

Ajaelu emphasised that General Musa requires the support of all Nigerians to succeed in the task before him.

The APC chieftain disclosed this in a chat with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt, describing General Musa as a credible and capable expert who would use his wealth of experience to lower insecurity in the country.

“For the man that has just been nominated to be the Defence Minister, who just finished serving as Chief of Defence Staff, in that capacity, I don’t think we have doubts that such a person could at least tame this issue of insecurity in Nigeria.

“But, nevertheless, no matter who the person is, he must work with people. So let us give him the support. He is credible, he is capable and with his wealth of experience, he will reduce insecurity to the barest minimum,” the youth leader said.

He reminded Nigerians that security is everybody’s concern and advised citizens to be good ambassadors by giving credible information to security agencies.

“Security is everybody’s business; that should be everybody’s concern. It doesn’t matter if XYZ is made Minister of Defence. No! Him alone cannot do it.

“So, I urge Nigerians to be security conscious, to speak up. I urge Nigerians to be good ambassadors, good informants to security agencies,” he said.
