Rivers State House of Assembly, led by the speaker,  Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, has screened and cleared five persons as commissioner-designates and rejected four others

Those screened and confirmed by the House during its sitting yesterday were Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr Peters Nwagor, Mr Lekue Kenneth and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.

Those rejected by the lawmakers were Professor Datonye Alasia, Mrs Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams and Otonye T.K.D. Amachree.

LEADERSHIP learnt that the four nominees were rejected for reasons ranging from tax clearance hiccups, discrepancies in names and anti-House of Assembly postures.

Governor  Siminalayi Fubara had last Tuesday submitted the list of nominees to the House for screening as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.

LEADERSHIP observed that none of the former commissioners and members of the State Executive Council made the current list of nominees.

The nominees had earlier submitted 40 sets of their curriculum vitae (CV), photocopies of their credentials and evidence of compliance with tax obligations to the office of the clerk.
