Rivers First Lady Hosts Armed Forces Veterans

The wife of the Rivers State governor, Lady Valerie Fubara, has hosted Armed Forces veterans in the state, assuring that the administration of her husband, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, remains committed to inclusive governance, social responsibility, and the welfare of citizens.

Lady Fubara stated this while hosting the Humanitarian Outreach/Family and Community Day as part of activities to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day in Rivers State.

According to her, the outreach stands as a solemn tribute and compassionate gesture designed to preserve the memory of shared history while strengthening the bond between government, Armed Forces veterans, and their families.

She commended the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of the armed forces, whose steadfast devotion has preserved Nigeria’s peace, unity, and territorial integrity, adding that the Rivers State Government will continue to support veterans and their families through policies and programmes that uphold dignity, well-being, and sustainable livelihoods.

“Across the length and breadth of our nation, our Armed Forces continue to demonstrate unwavering commitment in safeguarding lives, protecting property, and securing critical national assets.

“Their noble service has contributed immensely to the peace, economic progress, and social cohesion of Nigeria. It is therefore our solemn duty as a people and as government to honour their sacrifices, support their welfare, and extend compassion and care to their families as a lasting source of encouragement and strength,” she stressed.

Dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof. Ngozi Mma Ordu; Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, and his wife, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Anabraba; Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Roseline Uranta; Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi Brown; Prof. Roseline Konya, among others.
