The Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-governmental Affairs, Distinguished Senator Allwell Onyesoh, has categorically debunked the allegations linking him and his supporters to the killing of a member of the OSPAC vigilante group in Umuayagu village in Etche Local Government Area.
The lawmaker described the accusation as “fake, ridiculous, and the handiwork of the underworld,” and further emphasized that they are baseless, inordinate and fallacious and intended to tarnish his hard-earned image and reputation.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Peter Oriri, Senator Onyesoh condemned the spread of misinformation and expressed his disappointment over the attempt to defame his character. He reiterated that the reports circulating on social media and certain online platforms are not only false but also malignant in nature.
Senator Onyesoh clarified that since his arrival in Rivers State, he has remained at his residence in Port Harcourt and has no involvement in the purported local government elections or related activities.
He expressed shock at the ongoing campaign of cyber-attacks and disinformation aimed at discrediting him and vowed to take decisive legal action against those responsible for spreading these unfounded rumors.
“Etche has been peaceful since I arrived in Rivers State yesterday, it is like a holiday and the news of a vigilante member’s death is both surprising and disturbing to me. If such an incident has indeed occurred, I will work with the relevant security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.”
Senator Onyesoh strongly distances himself and his supporters from any insinuations or claims suggesting involvement in the alleged incident. He urged the public to disregard these misleading reports and warned individuals and media outlets spreading such fake news to desist forthwith or face legal consequences.
The Senator said he remains committed to serving his senatorial district with integrity and promoting peace and development in Rivers East Senatorial District.
