The traditional venue of inauguration of governor of the state, the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt, is already wearing a new look ahead of the event.

However, nothing seems to be happening at the Rivers State Government House, apart from the pre-inauguration dinner, which was held on Saturday night.

During the dinner, outgoing governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, announced the appointment of the traditional ruler of Emohua Kingdom, Ohna Sergeant Awuse, as the new Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers (RSCTR).

Awuse takes over from the Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom, King Danderson Douglas Jaja, who is is the traditional ruler of the governor-elect’s community.

Emeka ordered all Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the command to place adequate security in their areas of responsibility according to the operation order designed by the command.

Also, as part of the inauguration of the incoming governor and his deputy, the state government on Sunday held a pre-inauguration thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Church of Saint Paul’s (Anglican Communion), Garrison, Port Harcourt.

The thanksgiving service, which was also to mark the end of the administration of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, was officiated by the Anglican Bishop of Niger Delta North, Rt. Reverend Wisdom Budu Ihunwo.
