Road users in Kebbi State and other neighbouring states have commended Senator Mohammed Aliero, senator representing Kebbi Central Senatorial District, for the repair of collapsed bridge linking Northwest with Southern parts of the country.
It could be recalled that the bridge located between Kuchi and Rara towns on the highway linking Kebbi, Sokoto, and Niger states had, on August 29, collapsed.
It collapsed on Sunday night in connection with the recent heavy downpour which devastated Kebbi State and other neighbouring states like Sokoto, Zamfara and Niger.
Aliero, who is the chairman Senate Committee on Land Transport, repaired the collapsed bridge, which had caused untold hardship to motorists and farmers plying the road after its collapse.
The motorists and farmers expressed their delight and commendation in separate interviews on Monday in Koko/Besse local government area of the state.
Alhaji Yahaya Malami, a commercial driver, commended Sen. Aliero for repairing the bridge to standard, saying it was like the bridge had been restored to its normal state.
He said any driver going to the southern part of the country had to follow Jega, then detour to Kalgo, Bunza, Suru, and Bagudo Local Government Areas and then return to his normal route in Koko/Basse for the onward journey to the southern part of the country.
Also commenting, Malam Nura Abubakar, an articulated vehicle commercial driver, commended Sen. Aliero for the repairs of the Kebbe collapsed bridge on Koko- Yauri road.
Abubakar urged motorists using the road to drive safely and abide by the road safety rules and regulations in order to protect lives, property and infrastructure in the area.
On his part, Alhaji Tsoho Alaye-Jega, a supporter of Sen. Aleiro, commended the senator and urged the general public to laud the senator for the provision of democratic dividends to his people in the state.
