Following the recognition of Lagbua family as a bonafide ruling house in Iragbiji, Boripe local government area of Osun State, the family has applauded Governor Ademola Adeleke for standing by the truth.

It would be recalled that the State Executive Council at its meeting of Wednesday January 29, 2025 vacated the earlier decision of the State Exco of April 3, 2013 and approved the recommendation of the one-man Judicial Panel of Inquiry that the Lagbua family be included in the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Chieftaincy Declaration based on fairness and equity.

At a press conference addressed by Barrister Adeleke Adeyemi on Saturday, the family called on President Bola Tinubu and other relevant authorities to call Oba Abdu-Rasheed Olabomi to order as his actions and statements after government’s approval were full of threats to cause violence in Iragbiji and attacks on the government and Osun Governor for serving truth and justice.

The family held that the Lagbua family has pursued its struggle for its right to the throne of their forefathers for a very long time, in a very peaceful manner, through law, administrative and judicial processes, adding that they have not at any point in time sought for the removal of Oba Olabomi but have instead supported the palace and the community in all ramification, since the monarch ascended throne.

Meanwhile, the state government has insisted that its decision on the Iragbiji Chieftaincy Declaration is not targeted at anybody and is not meant to disrupt public peace, saying that the intention is to enforce equity and fairness.

The commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dosu Babatunde yesterday accused Oba Olabomi of twisting facts and playing politics with a matter of justice and equity in the Iragbiji kingship system.

He said that the state executive council only reversed a previous state action which apparently denied a ruling house the due rights to be included in the chieftaincy declaration, rebuking the Aragbiji for willfully and disrespectfully violating protocols by leveling baseless allegations and insults on the state governor.
