Run Club Abuja (RCA) has officially opened a state-of-the-art digital library for students at Junior Secondary School (JSS) Gwagwa, Abuja, featuring a year-long data subscription. This exciting development provides essential educational resources and online materials for students in JSS1 to JSS3.
During the handover ceremony, RCA President Buchi Onyebule highlighted that the e-library is outfitted with 12 computers and three educational platforms: Google Education Fundamentals, Snapplify Engage, and U-Lesson, a local resource tailored for junior secondary students.
Furthermore, the library’s environment boasts quality seating and tables designed to foster an optimal learning atmosphere.
Mrs Peju Lawanson, chairperson of the organising committee for the Run Club Abuja 2025 Charity Half Marathon, expressed her gratitude towards the sponsors, participants, and volunteers whose collective efforts made this initiative possible.
She remarked that the introduction of the digital library would significantly enhance students’ academic experiences, offering them access to a broad range of knowledge and learning opportunities. “We hope that this initiative inspires a love for learning, nurtures creativity, and equips students with the skills necessary to thrive in a digital age,” she added.
Mrs Nneka Okonkwo, Principal of Junior Secondary School Gwagwa, expressed her appreciation for the new facility, noting that the school had previously lacked a conventional library.
She described the digital library as a significant advancement in enhancing academic standards and opportunities for students, enabling them to compete effectively with peers in more affluent areas of Abuja.
Students Emmanuel Obioma and Goodness Akishere, both in JSS3, shared their enthusiasm for the new library, stating that it would greatly aid their research and studies.
Tony Edeh, Group Managing Director of Norrenberger Group and a key project partner, represented by Head of Brand, Marketing and Communications, Ibinabor Otonjo, emphasized that the digital library offers students a unique opportunity to explore beyond classroom confines, learn at their own pace, and aspire to greater ambitions.
The project was made possible through the ₦10 million raised from the Charity Half Marathon organised by Run Club Abuja in July 2025.
