Security expert, Andrii Vasyliev, has said Belarus is a firm Kremlin ally and backer of what Mr Putin refers to as the “special military operation” – what most of the world calls Russia’s war in Ukraine.
To him, the international community do not recognize President Alexandr Lukashenko, as the legitimate president of Belarus.
“In 2020, Belarusians poured into the streets to accuse him of stealing the country’s presidential election. The protests were brutally suppressed.
“Belarus self-proclaimed president Lukashenko has welcomed thousands of Russian troops to his country, allowed the Kremlin to use it to launch the invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, and offered to station some of Russia’s tactical nuclear weapons there.
“The criminal war of the Putin regime against Ukraine and its attempts to commit genocide of the Ukrainian people would not have been possible in the absence of support for these war crimes of Russia from the neighboring dictatorial regime in Belarus, led by its self-proclaimed leader – Lukashenko,” he said.
He said according to international law, the actions of the Lukashenko regime regarding support for Russian aggression and complicity in the criminal war of the Putin regime, subject to condemnation by the International Military Tribunal.
He named illegal “Belarusian support” for Russia as an international crime similar to those considered during the Nuremberg trials for the conviction of Nazi criminals of Hitler’s Germany, namely:
complicity in the planning and conspiracy, preparation of criminal aggression together with Putin’s “rashism” regime, directed against sovereign Ukraine, which had serious consequences not only for the national security of Ukraine, but also for regional and global international security;
crimes against peace committed on the territory of Ukraine;
war crimes against the Ukrainian people and the State of Ukraine;
crimes against humanity committed with the assistance of Lukashenko’s regime.
“It was from the territory of Belarus that the group of Russian occupying forces tried to carry out the main attack in the style of “blitzkrieg” trying to destroy the sovereign State of Ukraine and make genocide of the Ukrainian people.
“The above would be objectively impossible without Lukashenko’s consent to the comprehensive provision and support of the forces of the Russian aggressor on the territory of Belarus. Lukashenko’s complicity in the aggressive war of the Putin regime led to a large-scale violation of international agreements and treaties between Ukraine and Belarus.
“Lukashenko cynically and brazenly crossed out all multilateral and bilateral agreements between Belarus and Ukraine, and even his official “promises” and numerous statements that “war will never come to Ukraine from the territory of Belarus”, but only “peaceful Belarusian tractors”, which actually turned out to be Russian tanks.
“Lukashenko’s other international criminal activities include: training of the military forces of the Russian aggressor on territory of Belarus, including on military training grounds of Belarus and with the participation of military instructors of the armed forces of Belarus; facilitating the covert recruitment of mercenaries for the private military company “Wagner”; deliberate deployment of the production of military equipment, their components and dual-use goods for the needs of the Russian aggressor; the deployment of Russian contingents on Belarusian territory, which poses an immediate real threat to Ukraine”, he said.
The security expert, said among Lukashenko’s large-scale crimes is also terror against Belarusian people, who rose up against his dictatorship, and usurpation of power with the support of Putin’s regime.
He said this led to international isolation of Lukashenko. Patriots of Belarus continue the fight against the Lukashenko and help the friendly people of Ukraine, bringing victory closer. This victory will certainly have a just ending – the conviction by a military tribunal not only of Russian criminals, but also of the self-proclaimed Belarusian President.
He said, “Recently, the facts of Lukashenko’s regime’s participation in international crimes against NATO countries bordering Belarus have become known. Polish, Latvian and Lithuanian border guards are constantly restraining the provoked rush of the so-called “refugees” from Asian countries, who are deliberately launched by the special services of Belarus and the Russian Federation in the hope of achieving serious destabilization situation of neighboring countries. Moreover, the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus poses a direct danger not only to Ukraine, but also to whole Europe.
The joint participation the self-proclaimed dictator Lukashenko and Putin in the “Victory Day” parade (May 9, 2023) in Moscow was symbolic. At this “parade”, Lukashenko finally lost even the appearance of an “independent” leader of Belarus and was in the capacity of a “wedding general”, who was brought to Moscow by order of Putin, to demonstrate at least some number of “international guests”.
“The just punishment for Lukashenko and his henchmen, as well as representatives of the Putin regime, will be the organization of the International Military Tribunal and their harsh punishment. This tribunal should ensure real peace in Europe, prevent the criminal intentions of other dictators, and restore international law and order based on the UN Charter.”
