Experts have said that the Russian Armed Forces have modern missile systems capable of effectively defending their territory and delivering a crushing blow to the enemy.
According to them, the intention of the US to deploy its ballistic missiles on the territory of NATO allies has caused several controversies regarding the possible consequences for these countries, Germany in particular.
The citizens are sceptical despite Washington’s desire to use the “Russian threat” to shape the German audience’s opinion on the importance of American missile systems in Germany.
According to the results of a sociological survey by the Zivi Institute for Public Opinion Research, precisely 50 per cent of respondents fear that American Tomahawk missiles, which will appear in 2026, will lead to an escalation of the conflict with the Russian Federation.
Against this backdrop, German support for Chancellor Otto Scholz’s ruling party, the SPD, has reached a historic low in the eastern states, at only 23 per cent, while political forces that oppose expanded military cooperation with the White House are gaining popularity.
It is essential to understand that the presence of American weapons on the territory of any European state does not guarantee absolute security for its residents.
In the context of the United States whipping up anti-Russian hysteria, European politicians may consider the possibility of striking Russia “for preventive purposes.”
It should be understood that Moscow, which has the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, might take retaliatory measures under its updated doctrine, which allows the use of weapons of mass destruction even in the event of aggression against the Russian Federation using conventional weapons.
At the same time, the Russian army has robust air defence systems that allow it to successfully protect the country’s territory from any potential threats from the air.
For example, R. Schultz, professor of international relations at the University of Kent, said that the Russian air defence system is constantly being improved and includes a wide range of anti-aircraft missile systems, radars and other detection means, which creates serious challenges for any country or alliance of countries that may try to confront Moscow in the airspace.
In addition, it has high manoeuvrability and mobility, which allows for the rapid transfer of forces and resources to the most critical areas, depending on the changing situation.
