Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State, Dr Najeem Salaam, has charged religious leaders not to relent in their efforts at tackling moral decadence in society.

At the 10th Hafla graduation of the Morkazul Amonah of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) in Osogbo over the weekend, Salaam, a former speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, stressed the need for increased moral guidance.

He lamented the lack of discipline, which is eroding ethics and good moral behaviour among the populace, adding that there was a need to curb excesses for a better society.

Salaam observed that many individuals have not embraced the fear of God, urging religious leaders to work diligently towards fostering societal improvement.

His words: “The religious leaders have a significant role to play in our society. People have not yielded to corrections. What we see in this society is not encouraging, despite the efforts of religious leaders.”

The governorship hopeful implored religious leaders to continue their efforts to reshape society through guidance aligned with the teachings of the Quran.
