Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday, signed the ₦4.4 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, marking another milestone in his administration’s pursuit of inclusive growth and shared prosperity.

The budget signing ceremony, held at the Conference Room of Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, was attended by the deputy governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; the Head of Service, Bode Agoro; members of the State Executive Council; members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and other key stakeholders.

The Lagos State House of Assembly had earlier in January passed the budget, tagged “Budget of Shared Prosperity,” approving the issuance and appropriation of ₦4,444,509,776,438 for the 2026 fiscal year.

Speaking after signing the Money Bill into law, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the budget was designed to promote economic growth, reduce poverty, and ensure that prosperity reaches every resident of the state.

“Our mission remains clear: to eradicate poverty and build a Lagos that works for all,” the governor said. “Our vision continues to guide every fiscal decision we make, to deliver a Greater Lagos where shared prosperity is not an aspiration but a lived and felt reality.”

Sanwo-Olu noted that the 2026 budget was anchored on four strategic pillars: human-centred development, modern infrastructure, a thriving economy, and effective governance, all aligned with the State’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda.

The governor had in November 2025 presented the 2026 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval, emphasising his administration’s commitment to sustainable growth and improved quality of life for Lagosians.
