Sanwo-Olu, a visitor to the Lagos State University (LASU), represented by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, made the announcement yesterday while giving his address on the grand finale of the 28th Convocation Ceremony, which had conferment of honorary degrees and rank of distinguished professors at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, LASU main campus, Ojo, Lagos.

Honorary degrees were bestowed on the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and former Military Governor of Lagos State, General Buba Marwa (rtd), and also on the Deputy Governor of Lagos, Femi Pedro, specifically the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters [Infrastructure, Security and National Development], Honoris Causa.

He said, “You are very brilliant. Your exceptional academic achievement is a fine example, and you know that last year, the best student got an award of N10 million, so you will get the same N10 million.”

Recall that Governor Sanwo-Olu had, in 2024, gifted N10 million to LASU’s best-graduating student in the 2022/2023 session, Olaniyi Olawale.
