Signal Alliance Technology Holding (SATH), through its philanthropic arm, SATH Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) to establish an AI Experience Center on the university campus. The initiative is aimed at strengthening AI education, research, and applied learning in Nigerias academic institutions.
The signing ceremony took place at FUTO on April 30, 2025, and included representatives from both institutions. Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Emeka Oguzie, represented FUTO, while the SATH team was led by Chairman, Collins Onuegbu, accompanied by Corporate Social Responsibility Executive, Ugbonma Grace Ekeagbara.
The AI Experience Center, scheduled for launch in July 2025, is designed to:
- Enhance education, research, and innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Provide access to AI-powered tools to bridge the technology gap in academia.
- Support faculty and students in AI-focused research and adaptive learning.
- Position FUTO as a center of excellence in advanced technology.
This collaboration with FUTO reflects SATHs long-term commitment to improving access to technology in education, said Collins Onuegbu, Chairman, SATH. The AI Experience Center is a step toward equipping students with the capabilities needed to apply AI knowledge in solving real-world problems.
It further deepens the existing relationship with the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), built over the past five years through the entrepreneurial program sponsored by Signal Alliance Technology Holding (SATH) and project-managed by DevEast. The partnership is aimed at fostering innovation, skills development, and enterprise among students, laying a strong foundation for this next phase of technological advancement
Speaking on behalf of the university, Professor Emeka Oguzie, Deputy Vice Chancellor, FUTO, said, FUTO remains focused on aligning its academic programmes with global technology trends. This partnership with SATH is a practical move to provide our students and researchers with exposure to emerging technologies and their applications.
The Center will offer hands-on training and project-based learning opportunities in AI, further contributing to the development of a skilled, technology-driven workforce. It forms part of SATH’s philanthropic objective to collaborate with academic institutions across Africa to support digital capacity building.
