In a statement issued yesterday by the institution’s public relations officer, Mallam Auwal Hassan, the increase was described as a remarkable effort by the administration of Senator Bala Mohammed to enhance the university’s standard, aligning with his vision of improving education in Bauchi State.

The vice-chancellor of SAZU, Prof. Fatimah Tahir, also expressed optimism that this financial boost would go a long way in addressing many of the challenges faced by the institution, particularly in the areas of teaching and learning.

Commenting further, Prof. Tahir applauded Governor Bala Mohammed for recognizing and addressing the university’s financial constraints, which had previously hindered its ability to compete with its counterparts in other states. “This will now become a thing of the past,” she stated.

Furthermore, Tahir commended the governor for the construction of five major access roads within Gadau, the university’s main campus, which were recently completed.

According to her, these roads will improve accessibility and convenience while fostering a more conducive learning environment for students, faculty, and staff.

“These and other efforts are a testament to your unwavering commitment, dedication, and vision to transform Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) into a world-class institution, fostering academic excellence and innovation,” she added.

In a letter of appreciation signed by the university’s registrar, A.G. Hassan dated February 11, 2025, the institution assured that the grants would be utilised judiciously to enhance quality teaching and research, further supporting the governor’s mission to elevate the state’s educational standards.
