SEC Grows Market Capital To N124trn In 2 Years

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) says it grew market capitalisation by 125 percent, from N55 trillion to N124 trillion between April 2024 to March 2025.

Director General of SEC, Dr Emomotimi Agama who made the disclosure at a Citizens’ and Stakeholders’ Engagement session at the Federal Ministry of Finance today, added that the growth in market capitalisation amount to 33 percent contribution to the national GDP from 13 percent in 2024 when he took over office.

Agama also said that SEC facilitated over N2.7trillion in capital raises by the banking sector, with N1.7trliion specifically taggeted at the Central Bank of Nigeria’s recapitalisation exercise.

He also pointed to the recapitalisation of the capital market operators in January 2026 as an achievement under his watch.
