Borrowing a leaf from President Bola Tinubu, who donated his entire salary to a new welfare fund supporting the armed forces, a staff member of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Bagudu Mohammed Waziri, has donated N10,000.00 each to the Nigeria Police Trust Fund and Armed Forces Trust Fund for the remainder of his year in service.

Waziri, in a letter dated 15 April 2026, and addressed to the Accountant General of the Federation, Nigeria, stated that his decision to donate was motivated by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s decision to donate his entire salary to support the military.

In the letter titled: “Donation In Support Of The Nigerian Police Trust Fund and the Armed Forces Trust Fund,” which was also sent to the minister of finance and the coordinating minister of the economy, the chief of defence staff and the inspector-general of police, Waziri also called for patriotic citizens to make small sacrifices like this in order to support the uniformed men in Nigeria.

Part of the letter read, “I humbly write to notify you of my decision to forthwith make a monthly contribution of ten thousand naira (N10,000.00) each to the Nigerian Police Trust Fund and the Armed Forces Trust Fund respectively from my salary till the day I retire from service.”

He said the contribution was motivated by President Bola Tinubu’s decision to donate his entire salary to “support our men in uniform who risk their lives every day to ensure our peace, safety, and the territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“I believe that if, as patriotic citizens, we can add our small contributions in this manner, we would indeed be able to create a mighty ocean that bridges the funding gaps faced by these critical government agencies, enabling them to better secure our environment and people. added.

“Kindly provide the relevant accounts to enable me to advise the Finance Department at Securities and Exchange Commission to make the deductions at source before the payment of my monthly salary” he stated in the April 15th 2026 letter.”
