Police operatives and troops of the Nigerian Army successfully foiled two separate kidnap attempts leading to the rescue of six kidnap victims in Katsina State.

Katstina State Police Public Relation Officer, Sadiq Aliyu who announced this, however, said two victims succumbed to injuries sustained during the ensuing shootout between the operatives and the bandits.

Aliyu disclosed that the first incident occurred on Saturday when the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call regarding an attempted kidnapping on the Jibia-Kauran Namoda Road.

Adding that swiftly, police operatives and soldiers engaged the bandits in a gun duel where four abductees were rescued and rushed to the hospital for medical attention. Tragically, he said one victim died from gunshot injuries.

In a separate incident, the Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call about another kidnapping attempt at Unguwar Boka village in Faskari local government area, along the Funtua-Gusau Road.
