Chairman of Governing Council of My Project Institute of Security and Strategic Studies (ISSS) Major General Garba Audu (rtd) has unveiled the criteria and qualifications for the induction of new members of the board of fellows of the organisation.
Audu spoke at the weekend at the 5th induction ceremony of full members of ISSS at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja, where 28 new members were inducted.
Among the inductees was Prof Adesoji Adesugba, the managing director and chief executive of Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA) who was inducted as a Fellow.
According to Audu, all sexes can be inducted once they meet the criteria but those who desire to be members must have completed their Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in any discipline of their choice, or Higher National Diploma (HND) and must possess five years’ experience in a security organisation.
He said, “To be inducted, you must have acquired at least 5 years working experience in a security organisation either in a private or public organisation, must have Bsc or HND in any field of your choice. You must be of good character and have interest in security matters. You must also participate in a membership lecture. All these must be done before you are being inducted as a member.”
General Audu said there are lots of benefits derived from being a fellow of the institute among which is the ability to network with other fellows.
“You will interface with different kinds of people focusing on identifying different challenges you might be facing in any organisation or environment.
“The institute will equally as a member give you a very great platform for you to leverage in different security courses at a rebate rate. The institute is a kind of reservoir of knowledge where members can tap from.
“The networking activities in the institute are awesome that anybody that is not a member will always want to belong and understand the enormous networking activities. The benefit is much both training locally and internationally,” he said.
