A chieftain of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has asked former governor of Abia State and senator-elect of Abia North senatorial district, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to emulate Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State and sacrifice his ambition.

He urged Kalu to support Senator Godswill Akpabio who is the choice of the president-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership for the office.

In a statement signed by him and made available to LEADERSHIP, Mazi Isiguzoro said that Governor Umahi is set to be the face of Ndigbo in the incoming government, based on his loyalty to Tinubu.

He maintained that his loyalty to the president-elect made him to forgo his Senate Presidency ambition unlike others still fighting the president-elect and the party.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide wishes to join Ndigbo in celebrating the outgoing governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi, for the unprecedented transformation of the state during his 8-year tenure. Indeed, considering the state’s meager resources, Umahi is a ‘miracle worker’, to  have constructed over 13 flyovers, dual carriage roads across the state and most importantly the just opened ultra modern Abakaliki International Airport.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo totally concurs with Prince Arthur Eze that Governor Umahi is a savioUr to Ebonyi State.

The statement made last week during the commissioning of an 18-span flyover at Abaomege junction Onicha local government area named after him by the present administration in the state is a confirmation of Governor Umahi’s landmark achievement in the state.

“We are convinced that Umahi is a God given savioUr, not just to Ebonyi but to Ndigbo and indeed Nigeria,” he said.

He said in the absence of Ikemba Ojukwu and Dr Alex Ekwueme, Umahi, in his position as chairman, South East Governors Forum has become a rallying point for Ndigbo.

“Therefore, Ohanaeze Ndigbo based on his achievements and visionary leadership, recognises Umahi as the new political leader of Ndigbo, in this incoming dispensation,” he said.
