Children are born into families, and even their parents can only speculate about and catch a glimpse of what might be in store for them in the future. Parents who are devout and who trust in God’s divine providence, and acknowledge that children are a gift from God, usually hope that their children grow and be better than them.

The parents of senator I.D Gyang gave him a name of a man in the bible who was found and described as a man full of the holy ghost, assigned the responsibility to share food to the people in the early Church as a result of the crises that arose between the Hebrew and Gentile women. Could this name have been a prophecy by his parents that one day their son shall be both a man full of the holy spirit and one who will also be in charge and responsible for making food available to the people, particularly the most vulnerable in our society?

From the village of Rawuru in Fan district, the young Istifanus Dung Gyang grew  in wisdom and favor and was loved and admired by his contemporaries as he was then seen as a golden boy.

His father who was a big-time farmer had made life to the best of  his ability favorable for the young ID and his siblings to have basic needs of life at their disposal. The young Istifanus  displays unique qualities, and vision typical of Joseph the dreamer in the holy book even from a tender age with brilliance and exceptional wisdom, and fear of God. This is no doubt what we see in the daily life of senator Gyang today, a man of exceptional wisdom,  fear of God, and love for humanity as demonstrated in both his private and public life from his days as a civil servant and later as a member of the federal house of representatives and now a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria. What a man with many caps, capacity, and  GRACE. I can say here that what he has ever needed, the Lord has provided.

As we all celebrate this gentleman of sterling character and charisma, a kingdom-oriented leader who works and name needs no introduction to the church and the Nigerian political space, senator ID Gyang has earned for himself a special place in the hearts of the people of Plateau north and Plateau state as many have described him as the golden voice of the Plateau in the National Assembly. Senator Gyang never saw himself as a senator only for the northern zone  but took it as a duty to speak and echo the voice and plight of the plateau people in the national assembly without fear, favor or shame but with absolute confidence and passion. Through this act of shared loved and patriotism to plateau and the Nigerian state, many citizens wish a day comes when the man who has shown good stewardship and compassion for the people of the plateau will be at the center to decide for the future and destiny of the plateau state going forward.

Meanwhile, as a firm believer in raising and building the capacity of young leaders for leadership positions, the celebrant, senator Gyang has empowered many young persons today that are quietly in the quary site and building capacity for the task of leadership for the state and country. As a man with a clear vision who understands the wisdom of passing the baton to those coming after and behind him, he attracted to himself so many gifted and talented young people who are now as arrows in the quiver of a warrior who need not be ashamed nor afraid to face the enemy at the gate of the city (Psalms 24). The place and importance of building human capital is vital in sustaining good legacies and the senator has since understood this and gave it serious attention and a priority in his leadership and policy. We only wait in hope for the raising of the ID Gyang “army” as the states yearn, eagerly and expectantly waiting for their manifestation.

At 60, ID Gyang like the biblical Joshua still feels strong like he is forty and wants to conquer many lands for the people. Like Caleb, senator Gyang believes that as a people, we are all well able to take over back our land and community and give back prosperity to our people and the land shall again flourish more flamboyantly than it was in the past. He believes that on a journey to destiny like that of the Israelites, the enemy would want to hinder, but surely God will give us victory as he has never lost a battle nor slept over his promise to his chosen people. @60, we believe that the age will lead you into the council of Nigeria’s top senior citizens where you shall sit and give wise and Godly counsel to the king that the land may overtake and recover all.
