Amid the ongoing rift between the lawmaker representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, which led to her suspension from the Senate for six months, her Kogi Central constituents have declared their unalloyed support for her, ruling out a recall option.

Kogi Central constituents under the aegis of Concerned Constituents of Kogi Central Senatorial District weekend declared that nothing can ever make them recall Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing her representation so far as quality representation and warned against any attempt to illegally recall her by any group of individuals conspiring to work against the collective will of the constituents.

In a letter signed by 70 constituents, they described the suspension of the lawmaker from the Senate as illegal, stating that they are firmly with her in her pursuit of justice and called on the Senate to immediately reverse her suspension.

The letter reads, “We the Concerned Constituents of Kogi Central Senatorial District want the Nigerian Senate, fellow citizens of our country and the whole world to know that we are firmly standing with and fighting for justice alongside our daughter and duly elected Senator, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan on her illegal suspension from the Senate.

“Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan remains the one in whom we deposited our legitimacy as a Senatorial Constituency and nobody or groups of persons can unscrupulously violate our democratic and constitutional rights.

“We therefore wish to put the Senate, all Nigerians and the world on notice that:

  1. Senator Akpoti Uduaghan retains our irrevocable legitimacy as our Senator that we as constituents of Kogi Central duly and massively voted for in the 2023 elections to serve her full term ending May 2027.

“All our Communities that make up Kogi Central Constituency are resolute that we shall never trade off the quality of representation that Senator Akpoti -Uduaghan has given to us since she assumed office in the Nigerian Senate as our Distinguished Senator.

“We again demand that the Nigerian Senate terminates the illegal suspension of Senator Akpoti -Uduaghan because it unjustly denies our people of our constitutional right to federal representation in the National Assembly.

“We seriously warn against any attempt to further aggravate our Constituency through any fraudulent attempt to illegally recall Senator Akpoti Uduaghan by any group of individuals conspiring to work against the collective will of we the people of Kogi Central constituency.

“Any unscrupulous attempt against the collective good of our people will be met with strong resistance from the entire Kogi Central communities. We advise the President – Bola Ahmed Tinubu- and the Federal Government of Nigeria to swiftly take responsibility to ensure the safety of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and our communities of Kogi Central by preventing and averting any further provocation of the peace-loving people.

“We the people of Kogi Central communities have maintained law and order and now wish to advise everyone else to do the same.

“The Nigeria Senate, reverse and terminate the illegal suspension order now to allow Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan continue her representation and exemplary service to all of us her people.

“Let no one provoke us any further while we look forward to having our concerns addressed within the shortest possible time.”
