EAT RIGHT
Keep your eyes healthy by eating a well-balanced diet. Load up on different types of fruits and veggies, especially leafy greens like spinach, kale etc. Fish like salmon and tuna have been shown to help your eyes, too.
DON’T SMOKE
Smoking is not only destructive to your lungs but it can also give you cataracts. It may damage your optic nerve and cause macular degeneration.
WEAR SUNGLASSES
Shades are imperative when you go out into the sun. The UV rays of the sun can harm your eyes. They can bring about macular degeneration, cataracts and can even cause temporary blindness.
EYE EXERCISE
At regular intervals, put your eyes through a simple exercise. Stare at a distant object for 15 seconds, switch your gaze over to a nearer object, and keep staring at it for another 15 seconds. Repeat this cycle 4-5 times. Make it a habit to do this consistently to guard your eyes against unnecessary strain and discomfort.
REMOVE CONTACT LENSES AT NIGHT
If you are a lens wearer, take your contacts out at night. This gives your eyes some much-needed breathing room, since leaving them on overnight blocks oxygen from reaching your cornea.
EXERCISE REGULARLY
Having a healthy lifestyle decreases your chances of developing chronic diseases by quite a margin, and eye diseases are no exception. Studies have shown that several eye conditions are all associated with lower activity levels.
THROW AWAY OLD MAKEUP
Getting rid of old makeup is essential for maintaining your eye health, as expired products can harbor bacteria that pose a risk to your eyes.
