SGF Assures FG Support For IPAC’s Movie, ‘Unbroken Two And Half Decades’

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume has commended the leadership of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) for its national project, “Unbroken: Two and Half Decades,” a movie documenting Nigeria’s social, political, and economic journey and challenges since 1999.

In a statement by the national publicity secretary, IPAC, Chinyere Kalu, and made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday in Abuja, she said the assurance was given during a courtesy visit to the Presidential Villa on August 20, 2024.

She said IPAC’s Executive Council members led by its national chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle met with Senator Akume on the project.

She said the SGF commended IPAC leaders for carrying out the project and assured them of the government’s support to ensure that the movie reached both old and new generations of Nigerians and highlighted the importance of safeguarding the nation’s emerging democracy and its history and opined that History as a subject be returned to the school curriculum.

She said Senator Akume praised IPAC’s efforts, stating, “This is a historic effort by IPAC to document the history and preserve the nation’s democracy.”

“Barrister (Chief) Dan Nwanyanwu, Chairman Steering Committee on 25 Years Democracy and ‘Unbroken: Two and Half Decades’ movie, further highlighted reasons why the government should make the project a national priority.

IPAC Public Relations Consultant, Dr. Chris Oge Kalu elucidated on the importance of the movie, the timing and various global platforms where the movie will be streamed, promising a global favourable image.

“The movie project, a well-thought-out documentary film, aims to rebrand Nigeria’s image by showcasing major achievements and challenges the country has faced. ‘Unbroken: Two and Half Decades’ will be streamed on global platforms including CNN, Netflix and Amazon.

“The Permanent Secretary in the SGF’s office said that the SGF office will support the project for national reorientation,” the statement reads in part.

According to the statement, IPAC national chairman, Yusuf Dantalle thanked the SGF for granting the council audience and assured him of top-notch production to meet global standards and appreciated the government’s support and looked forward to a successful project launch.

Also in attendance were IPAC national secretary, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, national organising secretary, Comrade Egbeola O. Martins, the director general, Prince (Dr) Chinedu Obi, and the national publicity secretary, Chinyere Kalu.
