FIFA has officially chosen “Dai Dai” by global icon Shakira and Nigerian superstar Burna Boy as the theme song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Shakira released a 67-second teaser for the track, filmed at the historic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. The high-energy clip shows the Colombian singer dancing across the pitch in a yellow top, blue skirt, and sneakers, joined by a group of dancers surrounded by footballs.
The video ends with a sweeping camera zoom-out as fireworks burst over the stadium, and a message reading “We Are Ready” appears on the roof.
In her announcement on X, Shakira wrote: “From Maracaná Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the @FIFAWorldCup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We’re ready! @burnaboy.” The full track is scheduled for release on May 14.
“Dai Dai” marks Shakira’s return to the World Cup anthem spotlight. She previously delivered one of the tournament’s most beloved tracks, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” for the 2010 edition in South Africa, and also contributed to the 2014 Brazil tournament.
The new collaboration blends Latin rhythms with Afrobeats influences, aiming for a globally appealing sound ahead of the 2026 tournament, which kicks off on June 11.
The teaser has already sparked excitement online, with fans hailing Shakira as the “Queen of World Cup anthems” and anticipating another hit.
