Vice President Kashim Shettima yesterday attended the wedding reception of Nanbam Mutfwang, daughter of Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who was married to Jeremiah Ayodele, spotlighting the unifying power of the marriage institution.

Senator Shettima who represented President Bola Tinubu at the wedding ceremony said the union, which brings together the North and the South, symbolises that what binds Nigerians together far outweighs whatever seeks to divide the nation.

“We need to build bridges; we need to embrace one another. Challenges bring forth the character of leaders,” he said at the wedding reception held at Lang Field, Barkin Ladi Road, Jos.

In a statement by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, the vice president noted that while Plateau faces challenges, they are not insurmountable, especially with the right calibre of leadership.

He expressed delight at the presence of stakeholders, describing them as the movers and shakers of Plateau politics.

The vice president called on the people of Plateau, irrespective of their political affiliations, religious persuasions, tribal identities or sectional backgrounds to unite.

“We can transform Plateau into an economic powerhouse,” Vice President Shettima said, adding that though the beautiful city faces challenges that threaten to make it a depressed economy, stakeholders in Jos have the capacity to change the narrative and add value.

The vice president urged the people to unite and live together as brothers.

On his part, Governor Muftwang expressed delight at the presence of the vice president and conveyed his appreciation for the goodwill of President Tinubu.

He also thanked the Federal Government for its sustained progressive reforms in enhancing security in the state and the country at large, saying “we must continue to forge ahead with hope.”
