Popular American singer D4vd, born David Burke, was officially booked into the Los Angeles County Jail late Thursday night. His arrest follows a high-profile investigation into the death of Celeste Rivas, whose remains were discovered in a gruesome find late last year.
Detectives from the LAPD’s elite Robbery Homicide Division executed the arrest at the singer’s Hollywood Hills residence. Video footage obtained from the scene shows D4vd being led out in handcuffs, surrounded by a heavy police presence, before being transported for booking at 10:12 p.m.
According to TMZ, the case dates back to September 8, 2025, when a decomposing body was found inside a Tesla owned by the artist. The vehicle had been impounded at Hollywood Tow, where staff alerted authorities after noticing a foul odour. Upon inspecting the trunk, police discovered the “chopped up” remains of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
The singer’s attorneys, Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski, and Regina Peter, have fired back at authorities. In a statement to TMZ, the legal team blasted the LAPD for the arrest, noting that no grand jury indictment has been returned and no criminal complaint has been filed.
“The actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death,” the attorneys stated. They have vowed to “vigorously defend” the singer’s innocence, characterising the arrest as premature.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the evidence to determine if there is a sufficient basis to file formal murder charges. For now, the singer remains behind bars as the legal process unfolds.
