The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, said it will not disappoint Nigerians, adding that it will reposition itself to meet public expectations and reclaim political relevance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a visit by Wike to the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, the PDP National Chairman, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, said the current leadership is committed to rebuilding the party and delivering credible leadership.
“We are not going to disappoint Nigerians. This is the hope of our teeming supporters across the 36 states and the FCT,” Mohammed said.
He expressed appreciation to Wike for his continued support, noting that the minister played a key role in sustaining the party.
“We thank you for making everything possible for the PDP to have a platform today… You have done enough for this great party and everyone who is fair must attest to that,” he said.
The chairman assured that the National Working Committee (NWC) comprises capable individuals ready to reposition the PDP.
“We have capable hands of men and women… and we will do everything possible to lead the party to a higher level,” he stated.
Mohammed also reaffirmed the party’s ambition to return to winning ways in future elections.
“PDP has come to stay and under my leadership, we will make ourselves available to aspirants and candidates to ensure victory in the 2027 general election,” he said.
He pledged continued support for Wike, describing his role as instrumental to the party’s survival and progress.
“On behalf of the National Working Committee, we will keep giving you all the necessary support so that our party will succeed,” he added.
The PDP chairman, however, took a swipe at the previous leadership, accusing it of neglecting the party’s national secretariat.
“A lot of things have been abandoned… some were even taken away by the past leadership because there was no sincerity. We are going to correct that impression under this new leadership,” he said.
He thanked Wike for the visit and reiterated the commitment of the current leadership to restoring the party’s structure and credibility.
