Foundation Sensitise FCT Schools On Drugs Abuse, Mental Health, Others

In a bid to create awareness on drug abuse, mental health, child right and communication skills, a non-govermental organization, SIZA Foundation has carried out their sensitisation campaign to FCT schools.

The campaign is tagged MDCC Initiative and approved by FCT Secondary Education Board.

The awareness campaign was carried out at the Government Secondary School Shere, Government Girls Secondary School Dutse and Government Secondary School Giri. During the visit by Siza Foundation Team, educative interactions and teachings on drug abuse, mental health, child’s right and communication skill was delivered to the students.

The outreach and awareness campaign was led by the Executive Director of SIZA Foundation, Adaeze Ezissi. With her was the Project Director Godson Ikpontu and other officials of the foundation. The Initiative and entire visitation exercise was supervised by Hajiya Hadiza from FCT Secondary Education Board.

Speaking with Journalists during the project review in Abuja, the Executive Director, Adaeze Ezissi thanked the FCT Secondary Education Board for the approval and opportunity provided to the foundation to improve awareness on drug abuse, mental health and child’s rights in secondary schools.

She also acknowledged the Head masters of GSS Giri and GSS Shere, and the Head Mistress of GGSS Dutse.

She said,”Foundation has remained unequivocally committed to its vital focus areas including drug abuse, child’s rights, mental health, violence against persons and communication skills, through education, public awareness, sensitisation, advocacy and institutional bridge building”.

The foundation has maintained the principles of transparency, accountability, social justice, fairness and equity.

Other activities during the sensitisation outreach include donations of branded notebooks, presentation of drug abuse book titled Combatting Drug Abuse Among the Youth written by Adaeze Ezissi to schools libraries, distribution of snacks to children and installation of wall-signage to promote awareness on mental health, drug abuse, child rights and communication skills.
