Sokoto APC Submits Candidates Lists, As SIEC Commences Screening

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Sokoto State chapter has confirmed its readiness to participate in the forthcoming local government election slated for September this year in the state.

The state chairman, Alhaji Isah Sadiq Acida disclosed this while submitting the lists of the 23 local government chairmanship candidates and 244 names for councillorship across the state to the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC).

Alhaji Acida said the APC has conducted its primary elections in the presence of the state electoral commission and security agencies across the 23 council areas.

The chairman who was accompanied by the party’s state executive members also assured to give all necessary support to the commission to enable it to conduct successful elections.

Receiving the documents, the chairman of the commission, Alhaji Aliyu Sulaiman said SIEC is fully ready to start the screening of all the candidates who declared interest and submitted their documents to the commission for participation in the elections.

Alhaji Sulaiman assured that no one will be witch-hunted during the screening exercise as the commission’s role is to screen the candidates and ensure that qualified candidates are screened and emerge for the elections.

The chairman said the commission will start the screening on the 8th of August, this year and seek the support and cooperation of the participating candidates to conduct successful elections.
