Sokoto State Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir led a combined team of security personnel to Wanke village in Shagari local government area, which bandits allegedly invaded on Wednesday.
As of the Deputy Governor’s visit, the village was utterly deserted, and the bandits had fled.
The visit was a sequel to the request made by hundreds of displaced persons during a sympathy visit by the state government delegation led by the Deputy Governor.
Addressing hundreds of displaced persons, Alhaji Idris Gobir sympathised with the people and assured them of the state government’s unwavering commitment to confronting security challenges faced by various communities in the state.
The Deputy Governor said an appropriate site would be decided for a military camp to be stationed in the area to check bandit activities.
He also announced the donation of three grain trucks to aid the victims.
Earlier, the Chairman of the area, Barrister Muhammad Maidawa, thanked the state government for its response to the situation.
