Governor Ahmed Aliyu has fulfilled his campaign promise with the commencement of payment of N6,500 monthly stipends to People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) in the state.

A statement by the press secretary to the governor, Abubakar Bawa,  said the payment took place simultaneously in different centers.

The three centers located in Sokoto North, Dange Shuni and Gwadabawa local governments witnessed large turnout of screened PLWDs who received N6,500 each as their monthly stipends, Bawa said in the statement.

Some of beneficiaries interviewed commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for restoring the stipends.

“The return of our monthly stipends will also reduce street begging,” he said.

The governor had set up a committee to actualise restoration of the payment.
