The Sokoto State Government has relieved fifteen district heads of their appointments over insubordination, aiding insecurity, land racketeering and conversion of public properties for personal use.
The affected district heads include the district heads of Unguwar Lalle, Yabo, Wamakko, Tulluwa, Illela, Dogon-Daji, Kebbe, Alkammu and Giyawa.
Similarly, six district heads have been dropped over haphazard and faulty processes in their appointments by the immediate past administration, as well as their total rejection by their subjects.
The districts in this category are Marafan Tangaza, Sarkin Gabas Kalambaina, Bunun Gongoro, Sarkin Kudu Yar Tsakatawa, Sarkin Tambuwal and Sarkin Yamma Torankawa.
A statement on Tuesday by Abubakar Bawa, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ahmed Aliyu said their dethronement is with immediate effect.
Bawa noted that the decision was part of the recommendations made by the committee set up to review appointments of traditional rulers, renaming of tertiary institutions and the dissolution of governing boards of state parastatals other than the statutory bodies.
However, the district heads of Tsaki and Asara are to retain their positions while cases involving district heads of Isa, Kuchi, Kilgori and Gagi are recommended for further investigation.
The Sokoto State government also directed Alhaji Sama’ila Abdulkadir Mujeli to return to his former post as Sarkin Rafin Gumbi while the district heads of Binji and Sabon Birnin are transferred to Gatawa and Bunkari districts respectively.
However, seven district heads retained their respective districts.
They are Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar 111, Ciroman Sokoto; Alhaji Moh’d Maccido, Barayan Zaki; Alhaji Abubakar Buhari Salame, Sarkin Arewan Salame and Alhaji Aminu Aliyu Bello, Sarkin Yamma Balle.
The rest are Alhaji Shehu Yabo Mahe, Sarkin Gabas Dandin; Alhaji Tukur Ambaruwa, Sarkin Gabas; and Mallam Isah Aliyu Rarah, Sarkin Gabas Rarah.
