Recall that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, were declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Meanwhile, journalists, who arrived at the court premises as early as 7:00am on Saturday morning, were subjected to strict security checks as the court premises was being manned by heavily armed security personnel making access to the courtroom a very difficult task.
