Tension has mounted at the popular Kugbo Mechanic Village on Abuja-Keffi Expressway as a yet-to-be-identified soldier allegedly stabbed an electrician to death.

LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that the incident started from an argument between the soldier and the electrician, which resulted in the beating of the soldier and later led to the stabbing of the victim popularly called “Yellow” in the village.

The development led to a violent protest by the deceased’s colleagues, who set the soldier’s car ablaze after he ran for his life.

A trader in the area who did not want his name mentioned said the situation triggered fears, prompting shop owners to close their doors and run for safety.

“The soldier came with a car for the electrician to fix; after a few hours, they started an argument in which the soldier brought out a knife to defend himself and stabbed the man to death and ran away.

“His car was burnt by colleagues of the deceased. But the situation is calm now because a few policemen entered the market,” he said.

A spare parts dealer, who also refused to disclose his name, said, “The soldier came with the car first to me, but I told him that I was busy, he should give it to another person; they started with heated argument resulting in the killing of the electrician and burning of the soldier’s vehicle.”
