Songstress, Simi, Graces Glo-sponsored African Voices

Nigerian songstress, songwriter and actress, Simisola Bolatito Kosoko, popularly known by her stage name, Simi, is guest on this week’s edition of CNN African Voices Changemakers sponsored by telecommunications company, Globacom.

Simi was born on April 19, 1988 in Lagos. 

Her career kicked off as a gospel singer, which led to the release of “Ogaju”, her debut studio album in 2008. In 2014, she signed a record deal with X3M Music and subsequently released “Tiff”.  By 2015, “Tiff” was nominated for Best Alternative Song at The Headies.

By 2017, she released her second studio album “Simisola” while the third “Omo Charlie Champagne”, Vol. 1 was released to coincide with her thirty-first birthday on April 19, 2019. In June, 2019, Simi launched her record label Studio Brat and the same year she tied the nuptial knot with her equally successful singer husband, Adekunle Gold.

The graduate of Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria was appointed as one of the top judges in Season 7 of the Nigerian idol TV show in 2022.

Her other album chart-busters include “Joromi”, “Know You”,” Jericho” and “Duduke”.

The Nigerian music star will delight viewers with the story of her adventure in Film and Music world on African Voices ChangeMakers which will be aired on Saturday at 8.30 a.m. Repeats will be broadcast on Saturday at noon; Sunday at 4.30 a.m. and 7.00 p.m. On Monday next week, another repeat will be shown at 4.00 a.m., Saturday at 8.30 a.m. and 12 noon and Sunday at 7.00 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.
