Minister of Works, Engr Dave Umahi has stated that the people of South-East have every reasons to support President Bola Tinubu despite that some of them belong to different political parties.
Umahi stated this on Friday when he visited Abia State governor, Alex Otti at his Nvosi country home where he inspected some ongoing federal road projects in the state.
“We have every reasons as Ndigbo and people of the South-East, irrespective of party affiliation, to stand with President Tinubu as he is standing with the South-East,” he said.
Umahi said the people of the zone have much to appreciate President Tinubu for rewriting their political history and mainstreaming them into the federal government.
The former Ebonyi State governor explained that he had used the visit to inspect some of the state government’s projects the president had been invited to commission.
“And I’ve gone around on my own, I didn’t ask anybody to join me, and I want to say that, I’m very, very proud of what you are doing for Abia people. I’m really proud.
“Not only the quantum of projects you have completed, but the quality also, especially, the Port-Harcourt Road. It’s mind-blowing that, that place could be recovered,” he noted.
He also lauded Otti for the rehabilitation of two sections of Port Harcourt to Enugu Expressway, “which before you came on board was difficult for the contractor to freely work.”
In a response, Otti, appreciated the federal government’s support to the state, assuring the state will continue the partnership for the good of the people.
“I want to reassure you that we’ll work with the federal government and ensure that we work together and collaboratively for the benefit of our people.
“When those roads are done, the credit goes to government, whether it is the one at the centre or the one at the state. And then, the beneficiaries are the people,” Governor Otti said.
